Beyond BASIC Nephrology Course

The Beyond BASIC Nephrology course is a short course, usually held over 1.5 days, which aims to teach practical aspects of intensive care of patients with renal diseases and renal dysfunction. It is primarily designed for intermediate-senior Intensive Care trainees. However, many Intensive Care specialists find it to be a useful refresher and Nephrology trainees may also benefit from attending the course.

An international faculty will provide Lectures and Skills stations for clinicians caring for critically ill patients.

- Renal acid-base disturbance

- Sepsis & acute kidney injury
- Intra-abdominal hypertension, abdominal compartment syndrome & AKI
- Rhabdomyolysis
- Urosepsis
- Nephrolithiasis
- Chronic kidney disease
- Renal replacement therapy: indications & choice of technique
- Principles of extracorporeal renal replacement therapy
- Practical aspects of continuous extracorporeal renal replacement therapy
- Intermittent haemodialysis & hybrid techniques
- Peritoneal dialysis
- Principles of drug dosing in AKI
