At the end of each session a Clinical Controversy\, Panel Discussion or Case Report Discussion will be organised.\nKate Flynn Prize\nFriday February 16th 2018\nCALL FOR ABSTRACTS\nTrainees working in all disciplines related to Intensive Care or care of patients post ICU are invited to submit abstracts for the Annual Kate Flynn prize held in conjunction with the 23rd International Symposium on Infections of the Critically Ill Patient.\nDeadline for Submission of Abstracts\nFriday January 10th 2018\n  Guidelines for Abstract Submission\nAbstracts should be submitted by the presenter as a word document\, max 250 words and structured as Background\, Case Presentation\, and Conclusion.  Abstracts may include relevant case reports or case series. The winning essays from each university will be judged to select an overall national winner.\n\nThe winner in each university will receive a prize of €100 and the national winner will receive a prize of €250. The national winner will be invited to present their essay at an ICSI meeting later in the year.\n\n Eligible Students\n\nStudents studying medicine in a University in Ireland are eligible to apply.\n\nTopics & Criteria\n\nThe essay may be on any topic relevant to Intensive Care and Intensive Care Medicine . This could include brief literature reviews or observational/reflective essays based on the students own experience in ICU.  Students might also be encouraged to consider the more humanistic aspects of Intensive Care and its sequelae\n\nThe essay should be the sole work of the applicant and should be no more than 1500 words (excluding references).   Standard criteria will be used for marking in each university.\n\nMarks out of 100\n\nRelevance                                                    30\n\nContent and Analytical thought              30\n\nStandard of writing & readability            40\n\nThe closing date for submissions is April 27th 2018.  Winner in each university will be announced before May 31st .
